2010-03-16 Edit: UNDER GROUND MUSIC was, unfortunately, abandoned in September of 2009. I'm not sure if it was from poor sales or from UNDER CODE's chronic inability to pursue projects to completion. Anyway, the site is still up as of now, but it is no longer linked from the main UNDER CODE site, and no further updates have been (or will be) made to it. I believe you can still purchase things from the site, as the files are still there. However, I cannot guarantee that. If you choose to use this guide to purchase music from the site, I cannot be held liable if your download doesn't work, because UNDER GROUND MUSIC seems to be no longer officially supported.
So feel free to purchase from the site anyway, but do so with caution.

UNDER GROUND MUSIC is the official download site of UNDER CODE PRODUCTION, opened 2009-06-01. Below is a short FAQ and a guide to using the site.
・ A (free) account and credit card is mandatory.
・ The site is completely in Japanese.
・ Non-Japanese may use the site, provided that they have a credit card (see guide below).
・ Files are in MP3 format, ripped at 160 KBPS.
・ Cover art is available at the site, but not within the files themselves.
・ Each song is 210 yen (about $2.22/€1.56).
・ Each purchased file may be downloaded three times before expiring.
・ There are store-limited downloads, mostly live tracks as of now.
(A working email address, free account, and working credit card are required to purchase from UNDER GROUND MUSIC.)
① Register for a free account by clicking the blue button on the main page.
② Enter your nickname (this is not a username, you will use your email address for that), email address (then re-enter to confirm), check the left radio option to agree to the terms of service, and finally click the button to continue.

③ Click the button on the right to confirm your account and return to the main page.

④ You will receive a confirmation email with your temporary password. Once at the main page of UNDER GROUND MUSIC, log in using your email address and temporary password.
⑤ Once logged in, click the pink/red button at the very top of the page to view available artists. Click on an artist to view their available releases, and click on each release to view it/start the buying process.

⑥ On the release page, check the boxes next to the songs you wish to purchase. Then, among the buttons below the tracklisting, click the one on the right to proceed to your cart.

⑦ At the next page, scroll to the very bottom and click on the big green button to pay with a credit card. You will be taken to a white page with only one button to click; click on the button to proceed.
⑧ The next page is for your credit card information. Select the second option in the dropdown at the top of the page. Next, select the radio button on the right. Then enter your credit card number, the month and year it's valid through, and your security number (usually on the back of your card). Leave the first option selected in the next dropdown. Finally, enter and re-enter a password.

⑨ You may be shown a screen with only one button to click; click that button to proceed. You will be taken to a screen showing some of your card information. Enter the cardholder's name into the empty box, and then click the button below it to continue.

⑩ You may be shown a screen with only one button to click; click that button to proceed. You will then be taken to your download center, which shows the tracks you have purchased, and how many more times you may download them. Click the folder icon beside a song to download it (you may view this page at any time by clicking the link "購入履歴" on the main page).

I hope that covers any questions and the whole process. This is a great site, and we definitely need to support it! If you have any additional questions, please feel free to ask them here. Also ask if you need any help at all with any stage of purchasing; I intend to promote this site as much as possible, and will gladly provide one-on-one help if it's necessary.

If the number is not on the back of your card, it may be on the front; it will be a three to four digit number that's not embossed like your actual credit card number.
If you don't see any security number at all, just try leaving it blank.

・ If there is really no security number anywhere on your card, then just try leaving it blank. Most major card companies put some sort of security number on the card, but I don't believe all companies do.
・ Purchasing from UNDER GROUND MUSIC is completely safe. It is 100% secure, and they do not store your card information. There are no additional fees of any kind; I've already checked my bank account transfer history to make sure.

You are usually asked for a security number, which is a number that is printed on the card itself. This is to make sure that no one can use your card if they have the card number only.
UNDER GROUND MUSIC's payment system is 100% secure. I don't see why you wouldn't trust it if you trust other sites. PayPal also requires you to type in your card number, but it does not ask for your PIN number. UNDER GROUND MUSIC is exactly the same. The only difference is that PayPal stores your card number, where UNDER GROUND MUSIC does not. So, if anything, PayPal is less secure than UNDER GROUND MUSIC (although both are 100% safe to use, I'm just speaking figuratively).
There is literally no chance that someone will be able to steal your parents' credit card information or your debit card information.
If you don't want to purchase anything from the site, you don't have to! But being worried about the security is no excuse, because this site is just as secure as any other major online store.

$2 a song I don't like too much though but I guess I'm just use to paying 99 cents for download music from iTunes.
June 2 2009, 01:43:34 UTC 3 years ago
Yeah, I agree that the price is kind of steep. I don't really mind it for stuff like the NEGA single, but I wouldn't really want to buy a full album at that price!
On the other hand, I guess music in general is more expensive over there, so... At least it's better than one coin singles for 500 yen.

I hope they upload music from past Under Code Bands.

This is awesome. So much better than using certain nasty other online distributors :)
